ok so today in history Lee signed the surrender of the civil war.
Ok in my own assessment. A bunch of guys sat arround a table and signed a document declaring the war was over. In reality it really just ment the end of the fighting on a massive scale. Slavery was supposedly ended by the emancipation proclamation.
Too bad it had very little effect on the Slave communities who went from being slaves working on the plantations to freed men working on the plantations that were still owned by the owners. The oppression of this country extended to not only the black community but every one who came over on a boat who was different. This included the Irish the Chinese etc. Then came Segregation, that lasted till the 1960s, but we still have issues like that now, and now its only shifted its focus to the LGTB community. For a free country we sure fuck this idea of equality up all the time. Humans always after some one else because of their own in securities.
